Downtown Annapolis – Newman St. Playground – Bitty and Beau’s Coffee
When visiting Downtown Annapolis with kids, the Newman Street Playground is a great place to spend some time!
Playground is located at 📍 Newman Street and Compromise Street Annapolis, MD. There are 2 main play structures – one for toddlers and one of older kids. The playground (especially the toddler side) is well shaded in the summer months. It is *mostly* fenced in except for the back section that is open to the elementary school parking lot.
This park is just a 5 minute walk from the City Docks. We like parking on Dock St. – its $2/hour for a max of 3 hours (download the park mobile app and set everything up ahead of time to make it easier on yourself!) This way we can walk along the water, look at boats, grab coffee/lunch, see the ducks, etc. on our way to the playground! (There is also some free street parking around but you all already know parallel parking is not my jam🤪) The walk to the park does involve briefly walking along/crossing a fair busy street, but I manage ok with baby in the stroller and the twins (3.5) walking with me.
While walking around the city docks, we stopped into Bitty and Beau’s Coffee – and I am SO glad we did. Located at 📍 124 Dock St. Annapolis, MD, this amazing coffee shop employs individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. I really can’t say enough good things about our experience here – great coffee, delicious muffins, nice atmosphere and the friendliest, most welcoming staff you will ever meet. Impossible to walk in there and not leave smiling. ❤️
An amazing coffee shop, beautiful water views, great playground with shade… this is the perfect way to spend a summer morning!
