Bear Legacy Adventure Trails

In March of 2021 we took a road trip to Bel Air, MD to visit a few new places. I had been dying to get my girls to Bear Legacy for a long time! This was a bit of a long drive for us (1 hour) but there was so much for kids to do in Bel Air that it was totally worth it and we will absolutely be back to explore more!

Bear Legacy Adventure Trails are a series of hiking trails with sections geared towards kids. There are obstacles and play structures built in throughout the trails for kids to play and climb. There are two interactive story book trails featuring “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt” and “Brown Bear, Brown Bear” – my girls LOVED these. There is a mud kitchen, interactive music wall, road pavers, rock vegetable garden, tires to climb on, etc. I will let my pictures do most of the talking because there was SO much here!

We spent most of our time on the white, blue and orange trails. We were here for about 2 hours but if it wasn’t so freezing we could have stayed much longer. There are picnic tables so you can bring a lunch and so many trails to explore. The even have a really cool bike track through the woods! We brought our balance bikes but the girls were so tired after we did the trails that we didn’t end up getting to check it out. We will definitely do those next time!

We arrived at 11:30 on a weekday and left at 1:30 and only saw one other group the whole time. However when we left, the parking lot was full! Not sure if there is additional parking on the street, but I imagine it fills up fast on nice days. Oh and FYI, this is located across the street from Emmorton Elementary – we missed our turn at first so the school is the good landmark to go off of!

I recommend pairing a trip to Bear Legacy with a trip to one (or both!) of these awesome playgrounds in Bel Air:

Rockfield Creative Playground
Lyn Stacie Getz Creative Playground

🚽 Bathrooms 🚽: no!
👩‍👧‍👦Solo w/ kids?👩‍👧‍👦: Yes
🛒 Stroller friendly?🛒: maybe – trails are kind of bumpy but you might make it with an all-terrain stroller. Would be better to bring baby in a carrier
🦠Covid-safe🦠: tons of space to spread out – I’d imagine you’d be fine even on busy days
🅿️Parking🅿️: Small parking lot – fills up fast
