Sandy Point State Park

Sandy Point State Park
1100 E College Pkwy
Annapolis, MD 21409

We love to visit Sandy Point State Park at all times of year! While this is a great spot for summer beach days, we really love coming in the off-season. It’s usually pretty empty and we enjoy playing on the playground and taking in the views.

If you come in the summer, arrive early! It gets busy on weekends and due to COVID restrictions can often reach capacity. They have bathrooms with showers as well as outdoor showers so you can clean your little ones off before heading home. There are tons of picnic table in the grass near the beach – I usually get mind cleaned up from our beach time, then we have a picnic lunch at one of their tables before heading home.

Highlights:

🌊 Really cute new playground right on the beach. One side is woodland themed and the other side is Chesapeake bay themed – complete with blue crabs, a crab shack, a blue heron etc. The playground surface is half artificial turf and half rubber – great for crawlers or early walkers! No swings here.
🌊 HUGE beach with views of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge
🌊 Outdoor showers to rinse off sandy feet
🌊 Old DNR boat on the beach for kids to play on
🌊 Concession stand in the summer
