University of Maryland
Address for where we park:
7744 Regents Dr.
College Park, MD
During the height of the pandemic when playgrounds were closed, we had to get really creative with ways to get our kids out of the house. One place we started bringing them was University of MD campus! We are both UMD grads🎉 but even if you aren’t, the campus is a beautiful place to visit! It is open for visitors at any time, but I recommend going when classes are not in session so you can easily explore without being in the way of students and staff.
I like to park 🅿️ next to Memorial Chapel (where we got married!🥰). There are about 10 metered spaces and you can pay by credit card. From here you can walk to the mall and several restaurants on Rt. 1. If you park elsewhere, be VERY careful parking during the week (even in summer!) because you WILL get a hefty ticket if you park in lots without the necessary parking permit.
Some things to do on campus:
🐢 Ride bikes on the mall
🐢 Have a picnic (plenty of shade around the perimeter of the mall!)
🐢 Dip toes in the fountain
🐢 Visit the Campus Farm (currently not open for visitors but sometimes you can catch the animals outside)
🐢 Ice Cream from Maryland Dairy
🐢 Rub Testudos nose for good luck! 😊
