Bowie Heritage Park
13105 10th Street
Bowie, MD 20715
We were so happy to finally visit BRAND new Bowie Heritage Park in Old Town Bowie. It appeared to have been fully completed for almost an entire year but remained fenced off. We are so glad it’s finally open to the public!
This park is right along train tracks (separated by a fence) and is just a few steps down the paved Bowie Heritage Trail to the Bowie Railroad museum. This is an amazing place for train spotting – we saw 5 trains while we were there for just 3 minutes! (Just a note – for sound sensitive kiddos the trains can be pretty loud)
There are a few placed you can park but I recommend parking 🅿️ on 10th street – there are 3 designated street parking spots and an empty cul-de-sac at the end of the road that can also be used for parking. This park is built on a combination of rubber surface and mulch, with paved paths throughout. It has a traditional play structure with some unique climbing features, a small natural play area, swings for all abilities, and a huge rope climber. What really makes this playground unique is the pretend neighborhood – a series of little building modeled after historic Bowie buildings – including a school house, firehouse etc. All 3 of my girls LOVED running around all the little houses.
After playing in the park, we walked under the bridge to the railroad museum area. The girls love checking out the caboose on display. The inside of the museum is now open to the public a few days a week – we hope to go inside soon!
Walk under this bridge to get to the Caboose, Train Museum and Old Bowie Town Grille! Mural under the bridge
Right next to the railroad museum is Old Bowie Town Grille a great place to pick up dinner (also open for lunch Friday-Sunday!) to bring home, or sit and eat at the picnic tables behind the railroad museum while you watch for trains going by! This is local family owned restaurant with excellent food. They are a staple in the Bowie community! They have online ordering and also offer indoor and outdoor seating.

We are so excited and thankful for this new space in Bowie. It is so great to be able to play at a unique playground, watch trains go by, visit a museum, climb on a real caboose, and support a local restaurant – all in ONE spot!
