Today we visited Wild Kid Acres, a small family-owned educational farm and petting zoo located in Edgewater, MD. They offer a variety of events including tours on the weekends, private group tours, goat yoga (ages 18+) and beekeeping 101. We signed up for a visit to pet and feed the animals! It was a great, low key experience for my girls to get up close and interact with the animals. Tickets were $10 per person (ages 1+) for a 1 hr visit.

The girls had an absolutely blast here! The owners have done a wonderful job setting up this farm to be a safe place for kids to interact with animals. Most of the animals were in the backyard area of their property and after they went over a few safety rules with us, we were free to wander around and check things out for ourselves. In the backyard area there were several goats (including 5, week old baby goats 🥰) a miniature pony, 3 alpacas, and bunnies (in their own hutch area), chickens and turkeys. The animals roam freely in this area so my girls were a little timid at first but they warmed up in no time! Just outside the fence were cows (including two adorable furry highland cows) and pigs. They had a huge open barrel of feed so we could grab food and feed the animals on our own. The girls were beside themselves feeding the cows and goats, petting the bunnies and holding the baby goats. There is also a play structure with a slide that they had fun playing on! If you visit, definitely wear boots as it is a working farm.

We were the only people there during our time slot and the owners really took the time to talk to us and make us feel welcome. They have big plans for this space in the future (including building a barn on the property with space for educational area for kids and an entertainment for parents) – I can’t wait to see how it all takes shape!

Thank you Wild Kid Acres for having us! We can’t wait to come back and visit again soon!

🚽 Bathrooms 🚽: oops! I forgot to ask 🙈😂we were only there an hour so none of us needed it – I’ll check back on this!
👩‍👧‍👦Solo w/ kids?👩‍👧‍👦: I took the twins and left the baby at home. My girls are timid with stuff like this so I was fine on my own. But if your kids are more outgoing around animals, you may want to bring another adult just to make sure they’re being gentle, following rules, etc.
🛒 Stroller friendly?🛒: no, but strollers aren’t needed here!
😷Covid-safe😷: Attendance in petting zoo area is limited to 10 people. We were the only people there during our time slot! Masks required.
🅿️Parking🅿️: Parking in private driveway of their home right on Central Ave
