This summer we started exploring the Imagination Playgrounds in Prince George’s County. PG county has 26 imagination playgrounds – they each have a different theme and often colorful and unique play equipment. We have visited several so far and loved them all! You can find the full list of Imaginations Playgrounds (including a cute passport feature so you can check off the ones you’ve visited!) here:
Prince George’s County Imagination Playgrounds
The Laurel Imagination playground is located at Fairland Regional park in between the Fairland Aquatics Center and the Laurel Ice Gardens. This playground has an Archaeology Dig theme. It includes a huge shaded sand pit with little excavators for kids to sit on and dig in the sand. There are even ‘fossils’ hidden underneath the sand for kids to find! I suggest bringing buckets and shovels for the kids to have even more fun. This playground needed a little more maintenance than many of the other Imagination Playgrounds we’ve visited – lots of weeds and the equipment was pretty faded – but my kids clearly didn’t mind and we still had a blast!
This park backs up to the Little Paint Branch Trail, so we took a short walk on the paved trail around the pond before heading home. I had no idea the trail was here when we visited, so next time I will plan to spend more time here and take a longer walk. This is a great trail system and nicely paved, so perfect for strollers!
